Lang Lee:"On sleepless nights, instead of crying, I started making songs, and thus became a musician. It’s a strange thing."
Since her debut in 2011 with the single album "You Don't Even Know," Lang Lee has consistently expressed her own unique voice through music. With albums like "Yon Yonson" (2012), "Playing God" (2016), and "There Is A Wolf" (2021), she has explored themes of love, society, and personal stories. Her musical excellence and impactful messages have earned her numerous accolades, including Best Folk Album and Album of the Year at the 2022 Korean Music Awards.
"Korean Musician Comics 99" begins by exploring the origins of Lang Lee’s musical journey. The story starts in 2010 when she impulsively departs for Paris. Her confession,"I didn’t major in music, I didn’t listen to much music, and I knew nothing about harmony or chords—I just liked speaking while playing guitar,"demonstrates how music became more than mere creation; it became her way of coping and living through emotions.
Silki:Mainly working in black-and-white, Silki creates comics, illustrations, animations, and clay art. She is currently based in France.Silki, who has visualized Lang Lee’s story, has received widespread acclaim for comics like "I will survive" (2016), "Hahaha-igo" (2018), and "Nevertheless, I’m here" (2021), where she delicately portrays personal anxieties and the absurdities of reality. Her recent work, "Kimchi Baguette" (2023) humorously explores cultural differences and experiences of racism in France, gaining significant popularity and leading to local serialization and publication.
