Detailed Description
Enavogliflozin (brand name: Envlo) is a diabetes treatment developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical as the first SGLT-2 inhibitor in Korea. Enavogliflozin has proven to deliver the same therapeutic effect as existing SGLT-2 inhibitors with a much smaller dose of 0.3 mg, which is less than one-thirtieth of the standard dose. It has demonstrated excellent blood sugar-lowering effects and safety. Based on these proven efficacy and safety results, Enavogliflozin was launched in Korea in 2023 with insurance coverage and has secured three indications: monotherapy, metformin combination therapy, and gemigliptin combination therapy, providing better treatment options for diabetic patients. Within just six months of its release, Daewoong Pharmaceutical also launched "EnvloMet Extended Release Tablets," which apply Daewoong's proprietary innovative drug technologies—dual release technology and bilayer tablet technology—allowing patients to achieve excellent blood sugar-lowering effects with a once-daily, single-dose regimen.
Enavogliflozin is rapidly expanding not only in the domestic market but also in the global market. The company has submitted marketing authorization applications in a total of 12 countries, including Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Thailand, Peru, Colombia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Within one year of its domestic launch, Enavogliflozin obtained its first overseas approval in Ecuador, a country in Latin America. Additionally, the company has entered into partnering agreements with eight countries (Brazil, Mexico, Russia/CIS countries – six countries), with plans to expand into 15 countries by 2025 and 30 countries by 2030. This rapid expansion aims to establish Enavogliflozin as a leading global diabetes treatment.
