1. Smartcarro/ SmartEye 3 (SE3) Introduction

SmartEye 3 (SE3) is a standalone special device for a part of the In-Cabin Monitoring System designed with high-performance sensor and analysis technology to ensure the driver’s safety by notifying the driver with real-time reminders and alarms during potentially dangerous driving situations.  SmarEye 3 tracks head pose, blink rate, direction of gaze and other visual attributes to establish if the driver is focused on the road, distracted or drowsy. The detection of the driver's state enables our customers to deliver real-time life-saving alerts to the driver. Enhanced driver safety features like these are being designed into new vehicles with integrated autonomous driving functions but with the stand-alone SmartEye 3 (SE3), existing vehicles can easily be upgraded to have similar features.

Driver Monitoring System Device of the In-Cabin Monitoring System

As a part of the In-Cabin Monitoring System (ICMS) to the interior of the vehicle, SmartEye 3 is a function of DMS (Driver Monitoring System) focusing on detecting the current state of the driver only using integrated sensors with our own cutting-edge algorithms. Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) are known by various other conceptual names such as Driver Sate Warning System (DSWS), Driver State Monitoring System (DSMS), Fatigue Driver Monitoring Device, Fatigue Driver Warning Device, Drowsy Driving Warning System, Driver Drowsiness Warning System, Doze Driving alert System, etc… SmartEye 3 is not only a software-based but also a hardware-based monitoring visual sensor attributes to determine in real-time the driver’s state and detecting signs of drowsiness as well as distracted driving. When a dangerous driving state is detected, the driver is alerted to the situation by LED indicators, various audible alarms from a built-in loudspeaker, and physical feedback through a vibration cushion.

▶ DMS detects the driver’s state by using a high-performance, high-speed digital signal processor chip-set to catch analyze the infrared image of the driver.

• The DMS tracks the driver’s eyes, pupils, head pose, blink rate, the direction of gaze and other visual attributes to establish if the driver is focused on the road, is distracted or is in a drowsy or fatigued state.

▶ SmartEye 3 can detect the following:

SmartEye 3 can detect “drowsiness and fatigue”, “distraction”, “holing a phone” and “smoking”.

▶ SmartEye 3 can detect the driver’s state under all in-cabin lighting conditions.

• Infrared LEDs enable the detection of driver's states at night, in the basement parking lot, in tunnels as well as on rainy days.
• The removal of diffuse reflection by an embedded special filter enables the detection of the driver's state even when wearing glasses or sunglasses. (Note, mirror-coated glasses and goggles with strong IR blocking coatings are not recommended)

▶ Once the system verifies and recognizes dangerous driving states, the device will alert in real-time to the driver through LED light, warning beep from loudspeakers, or vibration by a vibration cushion in the driver’s seat according to the level of the driver's danger.

Accessories to enhance safe driving assistance functions

SmartEye 3 provides 3 types of accessories to help or enhance the function of the Driver Monitoring System.

▶ Vibration Cushion.

The vibration cushion is installed in the driver’s seat and provides physical feedback of the warning signals to the driver along with or instead of the audible warning.

▶ GPS antenna to support accurate speed and position detection allowing the system algorithms to more accurately provide alarms or warning signal only when the car is in motion and not when stopped or parking.

▶ SD Card for storing video logs and adding enhancements or new features upgrades.

7. Cautions:

1) The SmartEye 3 is designed for Commercial Vehicles and Trucks only. Alternate Smartcarro products (SE1 or S5D) are available for passenger vehicles.

2) Children under the age of 15 or people without a valid driver’s license are forbidden to use this product.

3) It is not recommended to use this system when wearing infrared-blocking glasses or goggles.

4) This product is designed to provide safe driving assistance only.  It is not a replacement for safe driving habits and should not be misused. The manufacturer is free from any responsibility for any problem and loss incurred when using this system.

8. Warranty

1. This product went through strict quality control and examination process
2. Warranty Period

• Main Device (DMS): 1 year (If purchase date is unidentifiable, 15 months from the manufacturing date)
• Accessories(Consumable): 6 months including Micro SD Card
• Period during which after-sale repair parts will be available: 5 year following the suspension of the sale of the model

3. When requiring major defection within 10 days of purchase: exchange or free repair
4. Within the Warranty Period: Free repair
5. After the Warranty Period: Paid repair
