Angbu Il-gu is a concave sundial that was made for the first time in the 16th year of King Sejong's reign.

The name of it was named for the reason that the surface(the tray-like concave side on which the time is demonstrated)

of this sundial which the shadow falls on looks like a caldron. In most cases, as a sundial was designed

to confirm the time through the shift of the shadow of the sun light, this Angbu Il-gu was made to confirm

not only the time but also the subdivisions of the seasons.
