Epidermal Growth Factor(EGF) is mitogenic for epithelial, mesothelial, and endothelial cells and has been shown to accelerate re-epithelialization, increase proliferation and tensile strength of healed dermis,and improve overall wound healing. 

EGF is a peptide molecule present in the cell membrane and after detachment it becomes a hormone, influencing the velocity of cell division, first of all in the case of epithelial cells.
