What's Squalene?

Squalene is one of components in the body’s tissues as poly-unsaturated hydrocarbon is made in an organism, and is also distributed a little in the animal tissue. Squalene is taken by us as a healthy functional food refined in high purity which is removed and the ingredient acidified and the ingredients without squalene from the raw liver oil of a deep sea shark. Squalene is created from the liver mainly, and is used to make steroid hormone or bile acid. It smoothes to supply oxygen to the body and helps with the metabolism, therefore   we recommend users who want to maintain their healthy skin.

The quality of squlane depends on the freshness and the refining method. What's an Antioxidant?

The active oxygen (O2-, H2O2, OH) occurs in the body by ultraviolet rays and environmental pollution substances that transfers the substance without attracted, control or removing acidifying activities. All organisms have antioxidant defense mechanisms for removing active oxygen exceeded and free radicals. It controls the creating of active oxygen and resistance is kept for acidifying stress by the function of antioxidant defense mechanisms. If such an antioxidant defense mechanism doesn`t run smoothly, various disturbances and diseases occur. 

Squalene History

Squalene was discovered by Dr. Ssjimodo Missmaru an oil chemist in Japan. He found a new substance which is lighter than glycerolloyd and heavier than a sop from the components of a liver’s tissues of deep seal sharks. He recognized that this substance is large in the shark’s liver of squalidae, and is named as ‘Squalene’. Then it was known to the world after he reported it to the institute. Also, the molecular formula system of Squalene was founded by Professor Peulkara of the University of Zurich in Swiss in 1935, and a large interest was shown by the academic world in Europe and the U.S.

Which Animal is the Deep Sea Shark?

The deep sea is 500~1,000m in the sea, it is difficult that organisms, especially fish inhabit because the water pressure of 50~100 air pressure and dissolved oxygen don’t exist. Also, the food chain doesn’t exist, as it is the cold place of 2~4℃, and is the dark world which the sunray doesn’t reach. But there exists a living thing strongly. It is just the deep sea shark. Generally, other fish that live in the deep end up dying, due to the difference of water pressure if they reach the water surface after being captured. But the deep sea shark shows a strong life force by moving for a few minutes after lifting on the water surface. Such power is well known to be originated from squlaene in the liver which is 1.5 times against its body. But all deep sea sharks don’t contain squalene of such good quality. Therefore SEMO selects them, after testing for results, the deep sea shark which contains a high amount of squalene that is 70~85%.

Features of the Deep Sea Shark

When it lives, the eyes of the deep shark appear beautiful and the pure color of soft jade green. The front part of the front dorsal fin has the sharp needle (Solid horny tissue), and the front part of the back dorsal fin has it. The deep see shark has a light grey liver which is very large and long. This liver’s weight is about 25% of its own weight, and is folded “U-type”. If it unfolds, it is 1.5 times its own body length.
