hCG is a glycoprotein hormone secreted from placenta chorionic cells shortly after fertilization. The hCG level is about 100 mIU/mL by the first missed menstrual period and may increase over the 100,000 mIU/mL in about 8~12 weeks of pregnancy. “TriCheck” detects the presence of hCG in 3~5 minutes using chromatographic immunoassay at the sensitivity of 25 mIU/mL. It can be used for a fast diagnosis in early pregnancy period. During pregnancy, it is also useful for determination of high concentration of hCG more than 100,000 mIU/mL. In “TriCheck”, two test lines (test line 1 and test line 2) are used in hCG detection for the pregnancy test. The conventional pregnancy test kits using just one test line could produce false negative results due to “Hook effect”. Under this effect, no color reaction could be developed on the test line during the period of very high level of hCG (8~12 weeks after fertilization) since the color development of the test line is inhibited by the high level of hCG.
