The origin is North Atlantic, Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean Sea but China is the major production country despite the fact that the fish was introduced for farming in Asia in early 2000.

Turbot has harder texture than olive flounder and getting more popularity in the Asian market.

Korea itself produces about 200-250 tones of turbot each year.
